ABOUT PAGE RESEARCH FOR SIMILAR E-COMMERCE WEBSITE

Image
I decided to research two e-commerce websites similar to my project and my aim was to look at the 'about page' to see how it was constructed, the length, and more. I figured that compared to any other e-commerce website the e-commerce website of businesses in the African jewellery store niche had a long about page which told the story of the brand. Below are the two e-commerce websites I researched on: 1. Afrikrea 2. House of Haule REFERENCE www.afrikarea.com (Accessed: 30 January 2023) www. houseofhaule.com  (Accessed: 30 January 2023)

WHO INVENTED THE WWW AND E-COMMERCE?

Image
The World Wide Web (WWW) was invented by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in 1989. Berners-Lee, who was then working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), created the first website and the first web browser (WorldWideWeb) to access it. He also developed a system of addressing web pages using URLs (Uniform Resource Locators), which allowed users to easily find and access web pages using a simple text-based address. E-commerce, or electronic commerce, began to take shape in the 1990s, after the invention of the WWW. One of the first e-commerce transactions was a sale of a Sting CD from the website of the artist's fan club in 1991. As the internet and the web began to gain popularity, businesses started to explore ways to use this new technology to sell products and services. In 1994, the first online shopping website, Internet Shopping Network, was launched. This was followed by the launch of Amazon.com in 1995 and eBay in 1996. Over the last few years, e-commerce continued to...
